The Third
Order of Service

1. The Congregation being assembled,
the Minister shall solemnly call them to Worship, saying:

GRACE, mercy, and peace be with you,
from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. Amen. 2 John 1:3.

Our help is in the name of the LORD, Maker of heaven and earth.
Psalm 124:8.

Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Amen.
Psalm 107:1.

 2. The Minister shall proclaim the Law of God, exhorting the Congregation to repentance, faith, and holiness of life.

You shall be careful to do as the LORD your God has commanded you; you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. You shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.
Deuteronomy 5:32-33.

You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Honour your father and your mother.’
Luke 18:19-21.

O come, let us worship and bow down:
let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.
Psalm 95:6.

 3. After a moment of silent prayer, the congregational prayer of confession shall be said, using words of Holy Scripture, such as:

“Return, faithless people; I will cure you of backsliding.”
“Yes, we will come to you, for you are the LORD our God.”
Jeremiah 3:22.

“For I am the LORD, I do not change; therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob. Yet from the days of your fathers you have gone away from My ordinances and have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you,” says the LORD of hosts.
Malachi 3:6,7.

JESUS, Son of David, have mercy on me!  Mark 10:47.
LORD, Son of David, have mercy on us! Matthew 20:31.

Pardon the iniquity of this people, I pray, according to the greatness of Your mercy, just as You have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now. Then the LORD said: I have pardoned, according to your word.
Numbers 14:19-20.

All the prophets testify about [Christ], that everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name. Acts 10:43.

Now to Him Who is able to keep us from stumbling, and to present us faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Saviour, Who alone is wise, be Glory and Majesty, Dominion and Power, both now and forever. Amen
Jude 24-25.

4. The Minister or Music Director shall lead the Congregation in singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs of praise and thanksgiving.

5. Prayers of intercession shall be led by the Minister, including petitions for the world, the country, the Civil Government and Royal Family, the sick, the community, the Church, and the spread of the Gospel. The intercessions shall end with the Lord’s Prayer; then the Nicene Creed shall be said.

OUR FATHER Which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one: for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
Matthew 6:9–13; Luke 11:1–4.

Strengthen us also in the most holy universal faith, of which we make profession with heart and mouth, saying:

I BELIEVE in one God,
the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
And of all things visible and invisible:
And in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the only-begotten Son of God,
Begotten of His Father before all worlds,
God of God, Light of Light,
Very God of very God,
Begotten, not made,
Being of one substance with the Father,
By Whom all things were made:
Who for us men and for our salvation
came down from heaven,
And was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary,
And was made man,
And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate.
He suffered and was buried,

And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures,
And ascended into heaven,
And is seated at the right hand of the Father.
And He shall come again with glory
to judge both the living and the dead:
Whose kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
Who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
Who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified,
Who has spoken by the prophets.
I believe in one holy universal and apostolic Church.
I acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
I look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

6. A sermonic hymn of preparation shall be sung, during which the Congregation shall present their tithes and offerings to the Lord.

Honour the LORD with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine. Proverbs 3:9-10.

his hands and pronouncing the Benediction upon the Congregation:

The LORD will watch over your coming and going,
both now and forevermore. Psalm 121:7,8.

‘May the LORD bless you and keep you;
may the LORD cause His face to shine upon you
and be gracious to you; may the LORD
turn his face towards you and give you peace.’ Amen.

and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all evermore.
’ Amen.
