The Fourth
Order of Service
1. The Congregation being assembled, the Minister shall solemnly call them to Worship, saying:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Our help is in the name of the LORD, Maker of heaven and earth.
Psalm 124:8.
Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name;
make known among the nations what He has done.
Psalm 105:1.
Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.
1 Chronicles 16:34.
2. The Minister shall proclaim the Law of God, exhorting the Congregation to repentance, faith, and holiness of life.
And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the LORD and His statutes which I command you today for your good? Deuteronomy 10:12-13.
O come, let us worship and bow down:
let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. Psalm 95:6.
3. After a moment of silent prayer, the congregational prayer of confession shall be said, using words of Holy Scripture, such as:
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 4:17.
To the LORD our God belong mercy and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against Him. We have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in His laws, which He set before us by His servants the prophets. Daniel 9:9-10.
When the wicked man turns away from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive. Ezekiel 18:27.
We acknowledge our wickedness, O LORD, the guilt of our fathers; indeed, we have sinned against You. For the sake of Your name do not despise us; do not disgrace Your glorious throne. Remember, do not break Your covenant with us. Jeremiah 14:20-21.
When you were dead in your trespasses and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having cancelled the debt ascribed to us in the decrees that stood against us. He took it away, nailing it to the cross!
Colossians 2:13-14.
For this, O LORD, I will praise You among the nations; I will sing praises to Your name. Amen.

OUR FATHER Which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one: for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
Matthew 6:9–13; Luke 11:1–4.
6. The Minister and Congregation shall confess the faith of the Church, using words drawn from Holy Scripture:
For us there is only one God, from Whom are all things, and for Whom we exist; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by Whom all things were created, and through Whom we live. [1 Cor. 8:6]
The Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come, made heaven and earth and the sea and all things that are in them. [Rev. 4:8; Acts 14:15]
Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God; the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth; our Lord and our God. [Matt. 16:16; John 1:14; John 20:28]
The Holy Spirit came upon the virgin Mary, and the power of the Highest overshadowed her; therefore, the Holy One Who was born of her is called the Son of God. [Luke 1:35; Matt. 1:23]
In the days of Pontius Pilate, Jesus Christ suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God. He was crucified, died, and was buried. [Acts 4:27; 1 Pet. 3:18; 1 Cor. 15:3–4]
His soul was not left in Hell, nor did His flesh see corruption. On the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures. [Acts 2:27; 1 Cor. 15:4]
He was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, where He intercedes for us. [Acts 1:9; Heb. 1:3; Rom. 8:34]
He shall come in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him; and He shall judge the living and the dead. [2 Tim. 4:1; Acts 17:31]
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, the Comforter, Whom the Father sends in the Name of the Son. [John 14:26; John 16:13; 2 Thess. 2:13; Rom. 8:11]
There is one body and one Spirit, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all. [Eph. 4:4–6]
The hour is coming in which all who are in the graves shall hear His voice and shall come forth; and this corruptible shall put on incorruption, and this mortal shall put on immortality. [John 5:28–29; 1 Cor. 15:53]
And this is the promise that He has promised us: eternal life. To Him be glory for ever and ever. Amen. [1 John 2:25; Rom. 11:36]
