The First
Order of Service

1. The Congregation being assembled, the Minister shall solemnly call them to Worship, saying:

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Our help is in the name of the LORD,
Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 124:8.
O Lord, open Thou my lips;
and my mouth shall declare Your praise. Psalm 51:15.
Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever. Amen. Psalm 107:1.

 2. The Minister shall proclaim the Law of God, exhorting the Congregation to repentance, faith, and holiness of life.

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
There is none other commandment greater than these. Mark 12:30-31.

O come, let us worship and bow down:
let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.
For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture,
And the sheep of His hand.
Psalm 95:6-7.

 3. After a moment of silent prayer, the congregational prayer of confession shall be said, using words of Holy Scripture, such as:

I acknowledged my sin to You
And my iniquity I did not hide.
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD.”
And You forgave the guilt of my sin.
Psalm 32:5.

Help us, O God of our salvation,
for the glory of Your name: and deliver us,
and purge away our sins, for Your name's sake, Psalm 79:9.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us
our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1  John 1:9.

‘For as the heavens are high above the earth,
So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;

As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.’
Psalm 103:11-12.

He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
Isaiah 53:4-5.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:

As it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

4. The Minister or Music Director shall lead the Congregation in singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs of praise and thanksgiving.

5. Prayers of intercession shall be led by the Minister, including petitions for the world, the country, the Civil Government and Royal Family, the sick, the community, the Church, and the spread of the Gospel.

The intercessions shall end with the Lord’s Prayer.

OUR FATHER Which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one: for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. Matthew 6:9–13; Luke 11:1–4.

6. The Minister and Congregation shall confess the faith of the Church, using words drawn from Holy Scripture:

Christ is the image of the invisible God,
the firstborn over all creation.
For in Him all things were created,
things in heaven and on earth,
visible and invisible:
all things have been created through Him and for Him.
He is before all things,
and in Him all things hold together.
He is the head of the body, the church.
He is the beginning,
and the firstborn from the dead,
so that in everything He might have the supremacy.
For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him,
and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things,
whether things on earth
or things in heaven,
by making peace through His blood
shed on the cross. Amen.
Colossians 1:15–20 (abbreviated)

7. A sermonic hymn of preparation shall be sung, during which the Congregation shall present their tithes and offerings to the Lord.

Every tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is the LORD’s; it is holy to the LORD. Leviticus 27:30.

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each one should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not out of regret or compulsion. For God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
2 Corinthians 9:6-8.

10. The Minister shall conclude the service by lifting
his hands and pronouncing the Benediction upon the Congregation:

“Now may the God of peace, Who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in you what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to Whom be glory for ever and ever.” Amen.
Hebrews 13:20-21.

‘The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
be with us all evermore.
’
 Amen.
2 Corinthians 13:14.
